Before I was known as the Memory Man and Photographer, I was better known as a
piano/keyboard player, having backed many singers in local clubs and pubs in
the 1970's and 1980's. I have also had some success at songwriting, some of my
songs have been recorded by local vocalists and played on the radio.
This song, "My Best Friend", is proving quite popular at weddings, especially
when the bride makes her entrance in the wedding place and also at the
reception for the First Waltz.
Vocals and instrumental arrangement by John "Jonty" Edwards. John, who is well-known in the UK
North-East as "Jonty" actually won a TV talent show, "Opportunity Knocks", in
the late 1960's when he was a member of the Freelanders group. The Freelanders
were a similar style to the Seekers group who had many hits including a No.1
with "The Carnival Is Over".
